maintenance plan and sub-directory

Hello there,
We have a maintenance plan to backup five user databases, we select "create
a sub-directory" and backup file to "d:\sql\backup", one of database backup
files did go to subdirectory of "d:\sql\backup", system put backup files in
"d:\sql\backup",
Anybody has idea? I appreciate your reply
Thanks very much
LionelHi
It's not clear if these are different database in the same job or different
locations for the same database!!
I would expect the location to be consistent for each database within a
given job, therefore all full backups are either in one directory or each
sub-directory and the transaction log backups are either in one directory or
one sub-directory for each database.
You may also want to check the dates and times one the files.

MailTo html in SELECT Statetment?

How do I write a SELECT statement to return one of the selected fields as a mail to link?
Thanks for helping a SQL newbie.
Scott

I'm a little confused. You'd do a SELECT emailAddress FROM yourTable, and then you would just plop the value into an anchor tag with a "mailto:" prefix.
Do you have some code that is not working correctly?
|||

Thank you for responding.

I'm using Dave O'Leary's Advanced DataGrid to pull content out of a MS SQL 2000 table in a DNN3 application.
Heres the statement:
SELECT TOP 5 Title, Price, EmailContact FROM cs_ClassifiedsItem ORDER BY CreatedDate
The DNN module stores classified ad information. The email address is stored as a character string and is returned as a mailto link at runtime. Advanced DataGrid simply returns the character string. I'd like to add code to the SELECT statement to return the email character string as a mailto link.

Mr. O'Leary provides the following guidance on his websitehttp://www.efficionconsulting.com/Default.aspx?tabid=217:
Q. Can the Grid display images and/or Links?

A. Yes. To do so, you basically need to return the appropriate HTML so, you can either store the full HTML in the database field or, in the select statement you can add the HTML, i.e. SELECT '<img src=' + ImageName + '>' FROM LinkImage.
I have not been able to get this to work using various forms of mailto tags. Help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

|||Then something like this might work for you:
SELECT TOP 5
Title,
Price,
'<a href=''mailto:' + EmailContact + '''>' + EmailContact + '</a>' AS MailToLink
FROM
cs_ClassifiedsItem
ORDER BY
CreatedDate

I don't think that mixing presentation code with data access code is a good idea, however.
|||Thank You! And I appreciate your guidance on mixing code.

Mail Merge & SQL

I need to mail merger information in a SQL Server DB to word to make shipping labels for part vendors. I need the abilty to select the vendor by the vendor number and specify how many copies of each to print. I have the DB mail merged to Word but I can not figure out how to do the select parthttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q285176 -KBA way to go.

HTH|||damn skunked again.|||Originally posted by Ruprect
damn skunked again.
The user opens the word doc, types in the vndNum/s they need, clicks a command button, which sends them back the queryed info from the server DB. MailmergeOne is not doing this for me. Any other ideas.

ltrim and rtirm is not working

Hi i have a select statement as

select empnum, len(empnum), ltrim(rtrim(empnum)), len(ltrim(rtrim(empnum))) from employee

When i execute this stament i get the following

1234 6 1234 6
4321 8 4321 8
1111 6 1111 6
2222 6 2222 6

How does this happens. Why ltrim and rtrim is not working here.what are you using to display these results, query analyser? enterprise manager? something else?

the length of 1234 is clearly not 6|||What does this yield:

select 'X' + ltrim(rtrim(empnum)) + 'X' from employee|||Ive got it, the input statement is from vb.net source, and the programmers have stored vbcrlf after each string. char(13) stored at the end and that is the reason y ltrim and rtrim is not working.

I removed the char(13) at the end and now it is working.

Thanks for your time
