maintenance plan fails after upgrade to 2000
plans do not work. I'm using simple model, no tlog backup.
The error I'm working with is this:

You are geting this error because the maintenance plan is
trying to put the database into single user mode. It fails
because there is a user (or at least an open transaction)
in the database. It is attempting to do this so it can
perform a dbcc checkdb with repair.
If this worked before, perhaps something in the upgrade
has lead to open transactions? Or have you changed the
time the job runs?
If you change the dbcc part of the maint plan, not to do
the repair it would not try to put the database into
single user mode. Check the output from your dbcc checkdb
and if you find you do need to run with repair, schedule a
job to run at a time when you can switch to single user
mode.
Hope this helps
John|||The plan was setup under sql 7 so I guess there wasnt a
problem in that version. I will remove the repair option,
but I suppose I'll have to run dbcc later.
Thanks

Specify a report file for the maint plan. In there you will find the error m

Maintenance Plan error
I am trying to create a maintenance plan and I get the folling error.
"exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation (mscorlib)"
additional information
"cannot find folder \"maintenace plans"
how do I resolve this?
A quick search threw up this reference:
http://www.unixadmintalk.com/f46/cannot-find-folder-maintenance-plans-229087/
The relevant information is:
|||I found a solution
use msdb
Verify that the folder is missing:
exec sp_executesql N'exec [msdb].[dbo].[sp_dts_getfolder] @.P1, @.P2',N'@.P1
nvarchar(17),@.P2 uniqueidentifier',N'Maintenance
Plans','00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000'Add the folder if missing:
exec sp_dts_addfolder '00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000','Maintenance
Plans','08AA12D5-8F98-4DAB-A4FC-980B150A5DC8'
Thanks for your help.
I did what you suggested, but it didn't quite work
I found another post on the internet that did solve the problem. Thought you might be interested. Once I did this, I was able to get maintenace plans to work
Here is what another said:
I just had exactly the same problem as you describe.... obviously the folder with the id '08AA12D5-8F98-4DAB-A4FC-980B150A5DC8' was already in the according msdb table.... check it out:
SELECT * FROM msdb.dbo.sysdtspackagefolders90
you will see that the folderid exists but has (for whatever reason...) the wrong name, not 'Maintenance Plans'. You can repair this by just using this statement:
UPDATE msdb.dbo.sysdtspackagefolders90
SET foldername = 'Maintenance Plans'
WHERE folderid='08AA12D5-8F98-4DAB-A4FC-980B150A5DC8'
It worked for me perfectly fine... after that maintenance plans can be created again....

Hello Theon,
This sounds like your client tools are older than SP2. The SP2 version of the Microsoft.SqlServer.MaintenancePlanTasks.dll assembly removed the function mentioned in the error message, so that's why the function cannot be found.. Can you check what version of Management Studio you're running, and see if its older than SP2? Also are you running Management Studio on the sql server machine, or connecting to it remotely?

Maintenance Plan / BackupJob failed with error 17055
we work with SQL Server 2000 SP3 and we had a problem with our
Maintenance Plan. Even time we start the job, the job failed with error
17055. SQL Server Logfile writes :
BackupMedium::ReportIoError: write-Fehler auf Sicherungsmedium 'D:
\Programme\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\BACKUP\distribution
\distribution_tlog_200708240700.TRN'. Betriebssystemfehler: 112(Es steht
nicht genug Speicherplatz auf dem Datenträger zur Verfügung.).
The SQL Server Entry before the error was :
Internal I/O request 0x5B39A9C8: Op: Write, pBuffer: 0x11570000, Size:
983040, Position: 16259410432, UMS: Internal: 0x103, InternalHigh: 0x0,
Offset: 0xC922EA00, OffsetHigh: 0x3, m_buf: 0x11570000, m_len: 983040,
m_actualBytes: 0, m_errcode: 112, BackupFile: D:\Programme\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL\BACKUP\distribution\distribution_tlog_200708240700.TRN
In the eventlog of the system the error 17055 occurs.
18210 :
BackupMedium::ReportIoError: write-Fehler auf Sicherungsmedium 'D:
\Programme\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\BACKUP\distribution
\distribution_tlog_200708240700.TRN'. Betriebssystemfehler: 112(Es steht
nicht genug Speicherplatz auf dem Datenträger zur Verfügung.).
The filesystem where the transaction log is written has over 15GB free
space. So what is the problem?
Many thanks for Help.
PeterP.Nebermann,
If the file system on your D: drive is FAT32 then a 4GB file is the biggest
that you can write.
http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread82720.html
Could that be the problem?

maintenance plan
plan is part of which component. I'm trying to fix this error and would like to un-install only that component. thanks.
If you're using SQL Server 2005, Maintenance Plans span multiple components:
SQL Server Management Studio
SQL Server Integration Services
SQL Agent
What is the problem that you're having?

consistency (this option has been removed in SQL Server 2005). Firstly it
requires changing the database state to single_user mode and secondly you
should always do root cause analysis of any inconsistencies.
