Maintance plans corrupted after sp2...

Posted - 03/19/2007 : 09:14:02

I installed sp2 on my sql server2005. It failed on database engine service. And i am not able to open existing maintance plans or create new plans.
When i try to open existing plan i am getting the following error:
Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.PackageNeutralClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.IDTSContainer90'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{8BDFE892-E9D8-4D23-9739-DA807BCDC2AC}' failed due to the following error: Interface not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040155). (Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS)

Any help appreciated...

Had same issue. What I did was run a manual backup of all my user databases. After that all my maintenance plans were working again (Never had issues with my system dbs tho).

Hope this helps.

Maintance plan Problems

Hello, I've been having some problems with my Maintainance plan in SQL Server 2000. It will occationally quit working for days at a time. Sometimes it will do everything but back up the databases, and it steadfastly refuses to delete log backups over 6 weeks old (as I have asked it to). Anybody have any advice for me? Please, someone tell me the only thing to do is to take it out in the parking lot and kick it around. ThanksThere isn't anything else on the server (Win 2000), and its configured to stay powered up all the time. Theres also no significant traffic when its configured to run.
Thanks|||I would like to know if there is any other way of allowing a user to be able to run maintenance plan or create databases without being sysAdmin.|||GRANT DUMP DATABASE , DUMP TRANSACTION TO <user_name>

Maintance Plan dbcc checkdb

Hi,

When I exectue the maintance plan dbcc checkdb it doesn't do anything because it takes 1 second to do de check. Doesn't appers any error.
When I execute the command in the query analizer it takes 2 hours to do the check.

Can you help me?

Thanks,

Marta Masnou

I advice you to forget black box named "maintance plan" and develop your own maintance job. Why? Becouse, in this case you can control all processes which coded by yourself. And catch all necessary information.

For example

Code Snippet

use db_name
create table #result
(
field1,
field2
...
...
)

insert #result exec ('dbcc checkdb with tableresults')

if (select count(*) from #result where status <> 0) > 0
begin
exec master..xp_cmdshell 'net send you_computer "ahtung: db_name is corrupt. Rerun CheckDB"'
end

So, as you can see, if some errors detected, you immediately will receive message.|||Hi,

thanks a lot Alexandr.

Now the job works correctly.

See you soon.

What is the version of SQL Server?
How big database is? Have you identified most fragmented tables and rebuild
index/s on them?
