The only thing in the report file is that it was unable to delete one of the
database backups. Other than that, all of the steps completed. Would that
cause the job to think it failed?

On occasion, one of my schedule jobs will "fail", in that all tasks
complete, but it still reports failure. Strangely enough, nothing is written
to SQL Server log, but I do have the following entry in the Event Viewer:
"SQL Server Scheduled Job 'DB Backup Job for DB Maintenance Plan 'Non-Great
Plains Daily Backup'' (0x01BF5D1C32E9FF418D67E99A77A4A014) - Status:
Failed - Invoked on: 2004-06-08 20:00:00 - Message: The job failed. The Job
was invoked by Schedule 35 (Schedule 1). The last step to run was step 1
(Step 1)."
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks,
MorganAny messages in the report file? (Did you specify a report file, btw?)

Main Report Page with multiple visible/nonvisible sub reports
Hi,
I have mainly the problem, that when I use a lot of subreports and
I get error messages by the report server.
Even I think it will not a got solution in matter of performance.
But how can I create a report, which will be configured by a
a field record ?
Up to now, I only use the sub reports with the function "hide " sub report.
The main page of the report will have the parameter selection box, to select
the datasets.
Depending on a record field information, I show only the depending reports,
which are shown different datas from different tables. Even different chart
data.
But I get the impression, that internally all query will be execute, even,
when the
visible flag is set to "hidden".
Need help for a better solution.
Best regards

In terms of the auto-execution of datasets, I'm not sure; however, you
might want to include all the subreports in the main report as table
controls (where applicable). Then toggle the visibility of the
individual table controls (via: right-clicking the top-left corner of
the table control >> select Properties >> select Visibility >> select
'Visibility can be toggled by another report item' >> then select a
control from the list below 'Report item:'). Hope this helps.

Mailing Reports
Hi,
I am rendering a report in PDF Format when a user needs in my Web Form(on
click of a button)
When this report is rendered in PDF format, Is there a way to send him the
report by Email.
An Email has to be sent when a report is rendered by a particular user.
Is there an option for this...
Thanks
KiranKiran:
I was coming in to ask a similar question. I know what you want to do can be
done through subscriptions, and I have looked at the database table where
subscriptions are stored and I believe it would just be a matter of inserting
a onetime subscription line into the subscription table. But what I want to
know is there any resource out there taht tells you how to add lines to the
subscription table. I have been thinking of purchasing hitchhikers guide but
I am unsure if it is going to help me with anything I do not already know.

have a SMTP server somewhere for this to work. It is very easy to use and is
widely used in the SQL Server community.

I am using the email provider available out of the box with reporting
services. I am on a flat network using 2 separated domains (resource and
user)and Routed IP schemes. The companies email is handled offsite using an
SMTP server that requires the user to login. There does not appear to be an
option to do this using the out of the box delivery method. And
unfortunately I do not know enough about setting up my own SMTP server
locally. I am trying to mail the reports from the resource domain to the
user domain.

Mailing Label
Hi,
I have several reports realized with SSRS, in general address lists. I'm
trying to find a way to add to this reports the capability to produce mailing
labels. I'd like to do it with a custom export format (it would be nice to
have it in the "export as" dropdown with pdf, csv and excel formats...). The
idea is to avoid duplicating every report to get a "Mailing label" version,
this to keep everything as DRY as possible.
Is it possible? Are there other ways without keeping multiple copies of
queries and parameters?

mail merge reports
Hi friends
am wondering is there a way to mail merge reports created by report builder? has any one tried yet?
am wondering is there a way to mail merge reports created by report builder? has any one tried yet?
we have few clients who use report builder to created reports and they want to mail merge some of the reports. for e.g. sending a letter to all customers with a predefined format.
any ideas on this one much appreciated.
Thanks for your help.test
Mail Delivery Fails--Please help!
We just set up Reporting Services on a new server can cannot get mail
delivery of reports to work no matter what we do. Errors appear in the log
like:
ERROR: Throwing
Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException:
The Report Server has encountered a configuration error; more details in the
log files, AuthzInitializeContextFromSid: Win32 error: 1355;
Info:
Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException:
The Report Server has encountered a configuration error; more details in the
log files
How do we resolve Win32 error 1355? The so-called details in the log files
are useless.

I've encountered this same error with RS emailing reports. You should find
that when you try to email the report as an attachment or as MHTML in the
body you will get the error, but if you just send a link, you will get no
error. In my case, we were running Windows Server 2003 and there was a known
bug that was fixed in Server 2003 sp1. If you are running Server 2003
without the service pack, I would recommend installing it, and it should fix
your problem. Hope that helps.

Macintosh Excel v.x Rendering
We have built a new front end to the report server to run reports. When
making calls to the RS Web Service, is there anything special that needs to
be done for Excel (xls) rendering? We have a few clients utlizing Apple MAC
OS X with Office v.x. We thought that SP1 would take care of their ability
to open the xls files as with prior versions of PC xls before Office XP.
After further testing, the MAC version still does not open the excel file
correctly. It only has MIME type values in the file. What are the options
to ensure MAC Excel opens the same as PC Excel with SP1? We currently have
them export to CSV and then open that in excel with the text to columns
re-formatting. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.Have you tried to export the file using a PC, save it to disk and then open
it on the Mac? I wouldn't be surprised if there were some glitches.

it. The mac opens fine, but that is not a viable solution to our problem as
the mac clients will need to run reports on demand. Do you by chance know
if there is a solution in the works to ensure MAC Excel versions export
without incidence as the PC version?
Thanks...

making calls to the RS Web Service, is there anything special that needs to
be done for Excel (xls) rendering?

Thanks...

Machine name works and FQDN fails
Short version:
http://machinename/reports works as does http://machinename/reportserver
http://FQDN/reports repeatedly requests authentication and then fails.
Longer version:
Everything was working perfectly. I attempted to change to Sharepoint
integrated mode from native (after giving up on this - different thread) I
switched back to native mode.
Everything works when I access using machine name, but the FQDN now causes a
repeated request for authentication (does not matter which server or desktop
the request comes from or which user account) the request fails.
This worked before my adventure into sharepoint integration without a
request for authentication, but I can't figure out what I changed
(I broke it and can't fix it) - Please help.

my Report server

Mac users
We are having issues with Mac users accessing our RS reports.
When they use Safari RS refuses their connection and when they use IE 5 they
are prompted for User/Password/Doman (which is OK) but the drop downs
(prompts) aren't showing up.
Is there a solution?
ThanksGive them a PC! :)
Sorry, couldn't resist.

both mac and pc and got really poor results. Some of the worst problems
were IE on Mac!
I posted on a microsoft forum somewhere but got no response.

downs show up and work.
They were even able to run reports.
The only hick right now is that when they choose a format to export the
"Export" button never gets activated.
Any idead, anyone
